Building Integrated Photovoltaic's (BIPV)

  • Enabling the same benefits as roof mounted systems, but replacing a buildings facade is becoming increasingly popular with architects allowing the whole face of a building to produce carbon free electricity.

  • It works by integrating solar cells within double glazed units.  By combining different backing glass, various degrees of shading can be produced, yet electricity can also be generated from the facades of south facing buildings.

  • BIPV relies on key supporting structures being designed to enable the system to perform adequately, but the immediate benefit is the replacement of the cost of installing glass, aluminium or expensive structural external cladding.

  • Energi work in conjunction with specialist partners, who produce a significant proportion of the aluminium structures that glaze buildings throughout the UK and Europe.

  • By combining structural glazing, manufacturing and PV installation from one source, a completely integrated and harmonised solution can be produced.  The whole suite of RAL colours are available to enable the best aesthetic effect.
