Langtree Group Centrix Centre
The Langtree Group are a successful property development business specialising in the regeneration of existing properties across a broad range of sectors. From Industrial estates and office buildings right through to retail sites and residential homes, their strong partnership abilities offer multiple opportunities in building regeneration.
With a strong property investment portfolio, Langtree’s solid financial base combined with extensive development experience allows the company to deliver a variety of complete regeneration projects including complex redevelopment.
With a focus on sustainable development and a catalogue of high quality redevelopment schemes, the focus on renewable energy in the form of Solar PV was a natural progression. Langtree are also renowned for achieving BREAM Excellence across their property portfolio, and Solar PV systems would help maintain towards maintaining this high standard.
As part of their on-going commitment to sustainable development, Langtree appointed Energi to design and install a Solar PV system for their Centrix Business Centre, a serviced office facility located in Newton-le-Willows.
Energi identified the building as being suitable for a 50kWp Solar PV system which would provide a high level of electricity generation and a strong return on investment for Langtree. In order to achieve optimum performance and yield within the roof area available, Energi installed REW SOLAR® Premium Plus 240w UM 96 modules at a 7° pitch using 3 x SMA Tripower Inverters. These inverters are class leaders in terms of efficiency and offer 98% maximum efficiency. Through the use of a low module pitch and the novel mounting system, Energi were able to deliver a 50kWp system on a roof that a standard approach of having a higher pitch would not achieve.
The REW SOLAR® Premium Plus 240W UM 96 modules provide a positive only power tolerance of +9% average and comes with a performance guarantee of 90% after 30 years. The modules come with a black anodised aluminium frame which Energi fit using black end caps for a sleek finish which is aesthetically pleasing as well as high performing.
Langtree Group decided that onsite monitoring was not required though they did decide to have a GSM enabled Smart meter added. This gives half hourly readings to an online metering service which can supply detailed information about generation data. This can be compared to the information from the Smart meter on the incoming electricity supply to the building, to assess the impact of the PV system and provide a building management tool. A facility was included to monitor the PV system performance through the internet, using SMA’s free to use website.
