Energi were appointed to design and install a Solar PV system on this large residential property. The main requirements of the project were to install the largest number of PV modules the roof could accommodate, to provide maximum output.
The roof available for a PV array is a southwest facing roof which would be free from shading for the majority of the year. The roof was tiled and at a 30ᵒ pitch, meaning the mounting system used would consist of roof hooks which are fited to the rafters under the roof tiles, aloong with aluminium mounting rails.
Energi also concluded that the existing 3-phase unit was inadequate for the connection requirements, therefore a new unit was installed. Energi also reconfiguerd the installation to locate the inverter on the external wall at the North-western end of the house and to incorporate dedicated earth bonding for the module array.
The total sytem size was 9.99kWp using 54 x Sharp NU185w modules. The inverters used were SMA STP 10000. This would give an estiamted annual output of 7,800 kWh.
